Elena's green
The aim of this project is to save all of those plants and weeds which have spontaneously grow up outside of the many construction sites of Milan.
Milan is known as one of the world capital for design and fashion, but for many Italian people is just a grey and hostile city. Its nominee for the Expo 2015 has boosted the biggest urban development process of the last 60 years. Dozens and dozens of cranes has been elevated all around the city. While new skyscrapers, squares and some parks as well are going to be donated to the public, a lot of spontaneous and undesired plants has appeared on the border of construction sites, making Milan a greener place than a few years ago. This legacy is unfortunately going to be destroyed when buildings will be finished. To preserve it we decided to entrust it to Londoners. It's a temporary adoption, until Milan's municipality will be ready to receive its green back
In Milan, where we are going to gather plants and weeds from the border of construction sites and put them into vases. In London, where we are going to offer people to freely adopt (but we hope it's going to be a
temporary thing) these plants and put them on balconies, terraces, kitchens or gardens. We would love if each new parent can send us some pictures of the plants growing up during weeks.
Everywhere else: on the Web you can buy and adopt some green from Milan. You can find the catalogue of all the weeds on a Web site www.adoptapieceofgreen.com and you can choose the one you would like to adopt through pictures. During the Pop-up House event you have the chance to see and pick up one of them directly (for free)..
